Psychoeducational Assessments

A psychoeducational assessment is completed in order for the psychologist to:

  • Explore your child’s learning style (4 years old and above).

  • Understand your child’s profile of strengths and difficulties.

  • Determine if there are any underlying cognitive or learning difficulties.

  • Explore how the school can best support your child.

The psychologist will:

  • Schedule a parent consultation with you to gather background information and obtain developmental history about your child.

  • Take your permission to communicate with your child’s teacher to gather additional information.

  • Schedule the assessment at school or at the center.

  • Work closely with your child to make sure that they feel comfortable and

relaxed during the assessment, to ensure that it is a positive experience for them. The testing includes a variety of different tasks such as reading, spelling and writing, as well as verbal and logical reasoning tasks.

  • Provide a comprehensive report, which will outline the results, any clinical diagnoses, interventions and recommendations.

  • Collaborate with you and the school, once the report is ready, to provide feedback and discuss the report and the recommendations. The recom- mendations may include specific types of therapy, such as, speech and language therapy, as well as various exam accommodations that your child may be eligible to receive, such as, extra time.

Clinical Assessments

Clinical assessments help us identify the issues that you are facing at home and formulate a treatment plan to overcome them. Our assessments consist of four stages:

  • Parent intake session, where we collect relevant background information about your child and family.

  • Clinical observations, where we meet your child on two separate occasions to observe and assess them.

  • Comprehensive report, where we outline the concerns and provide a clear treatment plan

  • Debrief session, where we meet with the parents to review the report and discuss the changes that can be made at home.

Online Psychoeducational Assessments

A psychoeducational assessment can help you to understand your child’s learning needs and provide them with the necessary tools to have a more successful e-learning experience today. Use this time at home to have your child evaluated for any of the following:

  • Learning Difficulties: Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia

  • ADHD

  • Language Difficulties

  • Intellectual Difficulties

  • Emotional problems, such as anxiety or depression

We are following the Pearson Assessments via Telehealth protocol in order to provide reliable, accurate and approved testing over a secure online platform. We will guide your child through each step of the process and take it at their pace to ensure a comfortable and stress-free testing experience. A comprehensive report will be provided, which will explain any clinical diagnoses and outline interventions and recommendations that can be used to support your child with their e-learning experience and their transition back to school.
